Impact sessions

IMPACT sessions guide campers to explore how their actions shape the environment, their experiences at camp, and their future. Over six days, campers dive into hands-on activities like wildlife observation, forest exploration, water ecology, and energy-focused learning, discovering the interconnectedness of ʔa·kxam̓is q̓api qapsin—all living things.

These sessions focus on the IMPACT we have on each other, the environment, and the future, encouraging campers to reflect on their role as stewards of the environment. Through engaging, fun, and inquiry-driven experiences, they’ll build science literacy, develop leadership skills, and foster a lasting appreciation for the natural world.

Through hands-on exploration and application, IMPACT sessions help campers think critically, build leadership skills, and develop a lasting understanding of how their actions impact the world around them.

IMPACT Session Descriptions:

Forest Education:

Campers engage with forests by identifying trees, examining how they grow and change, and exploring the role forests play in ecosystems. They will have opportunities to investigate biodiversity, tree aging, and forest dynamics through hands-on activities.

Water Immersion:

Campers explore the movement, quality, and importance of water in ecosystems. Through hands-on activities, they will have opportunities to investigate water health, aquatic life, and the different ways water supports both the natural world and people.

Wildlife Encounters:

Campers explore how animals adapt, survive, and interact within their ecosystems. Through hands-on activities, they will have opportunities to investigate animal adaptations, habitat needs, and the roles different species play in maintaining ecological balance.

Energy Systems:

Campers explore how energy is produced, transformed, and used in the natural world and human society. Through hands-on activities, they will have opportunities to investigate different energy sources, measure energy use, and examine how our energy choices impact the environment and future.

(During registration you will be asked to choose your Camper’s IMPACT Sessions in order of preference.)
