The Apprentice Interpreter Course is two days in length and is designed as a stepping stone to the Professional Interpreter Accreditation. It is for guides who are relatively new to interpretive guiding, but it is appropriate for any guides or interested individuals who want an introduction to effective interpretation skills, local natural history, cultural history and park management.

this course is being taught by the interpretive guides association and being offered at blue lake camp.

The Interpretive Guides Association (formally Mountain Parks Heritage Interpretation Association) is a professional body representing interpretive guides who connect people to Canada’s mountain parks.

The Interpretive Guides Association believe that meaningful and memorable experiences in the parks can be fostered by experiences with professionally accredited interpreters. These interpreters weave the local natural and cultural history into engaging stories that help people feel a personal connection to mountain landscapes and cultures in Canada.

Like any professionals, interpreters need professional representation, accreditation and on-going opportunities for learning and discovery. The Interpretive Guides Association provides services that support guides and ensure visitors to the mountain parks have enjoyable, safe and memorable experiences in the parks.

As we expect people will be arriving at different times Friday evening, there will be a light warm meal available between 5:00pm and 8:00pm.
