School Programs at Blue Lake
Blue Lake Camp has served as an important destination for school programs, summer camp, and youth outdoor education programs for more than 35 years. Students attend for three to five days to experience the outdoor classroom at the off-grid, self sustained Blue Lake Camp. We offer a full roster of high quality, curriculum-driven, outdoor and environmental education experiences for students. Our programs are all taught by knowledgeable, trained staff who can tailor the program to meet your curriculum needs.
The benefits of attending Blue Lake are immense, and far reaching. The camp community is unlike any other in opportunities it provides for children in a positive and supportive environment; the impact of attending camp can last a lifetime.
Blue Lake Camp has recently been renovated. The upgraded facilities include the lodge, cozy mountain cabins, private swimming area with docks, campfire circle, trail systems, large games field, boat house with canoes and life jackets, wash houses with hot showers, and a large dining hall.
Our spring program will run through late April through June. We also have availability to run customized programs for your class in the Fall (September-November) and Winter (January-March). Our winter program focuses on winter survival skills and can include cross country skiing and/or snowshoeing. Please call our office to discuss a customized program during the Fall and Winter months.
Historically, the schools who have attended Blue Lake are typically grades 4, 5 and 6. We have developed educational materials which cover content for children aged 7 to 17! Our programming includes outdoor recreation skill development (ie canoeing, orienteering, survival skills) and forest eco system and ecology education programs (ie trees, water, soil, and wildlife). We offer a full roster of high quality, curriculum-driven, outdoor and environmental education experiences for students. Our staff have the ability to customize a program for any grade level based on current education curriculum and help students understand Big Ideas and fulfill the Curriculum Competencies. Teambuilding and leadership development programs are also available. Traditional camp activities such as swimming, canoeing, hiking, skit nights, games, and camp fires are what make Blue Lake fun!
