New This Year!
Ages: 10 - 14
On Mondays, we will be offering a one hour trail ride on horseback to 6 and 4 day Campers. Spaces are limited and this option is selected during registration - first come first served.
Each day at Blue Lake is filled with fun activities that will build confidence, critical thinking skills, and encourage team work. Campers are continually supported, encouraged, and set up for success! Some activities, like Discovery Programs, are done in small groups and others, like Large Group Games, involve everyone. Together we complete duties, tackle challenges, and make new life-long friends along the way.
Waterfront: Campers can join the Beach Party on the sandy shore of Blue Lake! Go for a swim, or learn how to paddle in one of our canoes. If you love to fish, bring your rod and tackle and catch one of our rainbow trout.
Super Glitter Glushin Kazaam: On Wednesdays, campers have the opportunity to perform their special talent in our camper talent show.
Free Time: Time to choose your own adventure! Canoeing, swimming, crafts, games, or quiet time. You can bring your mountain bike and helmet and join other bikers and staff on one of our many trails (optional).
Cabin Time: Half an hour to relax and have some quiet time. Campers are welcome to bring a book to read.
Large Group Games: The whole camp participates in games like Capture the Flag, Predator/Prey, Mantracker and more.
Campfire: The ultimate camp tradition! Campers gather around the fire for traditional stories, songs, hot chocolate, and snacks.
Duties: Duties are an important part of programming and teach campers valuable life skills and team work. Campers join their duty groups to help with setup and cleanup during meal times, and cleaning of shared camp areas.
If you're at camp on Thursday night and the sounds of the drums are heard, you may experience one of Blue Lake's most legendary events!
At Blue Lake Camp, our focus is outdoor science and recreation. Through our Discovery Programs campers learn about the world in a way that is inspiring, hands-on, fun and active!
These fun activities are done in cabin groups and promote team work and skill development. 6 day campers will participate in all three of these activities. 3 and 4 day campers will participate in some of these activities.
Canoeing: Become a confident paddler by learning basic canoeing strokes and water safety. Then cruise the shores of Blue Lake and have fun! Canoes, life jackets and paddles are included.
Low Ropes: Our low ropes team challenges create exciting opportunities for campers to develop group skills such as working together, sharing ideas, trust, problem-solving, and leadership.
Forest Investigation: Campers will investigate the flora and fauna around Blue Lake exploring the unique natural features of the Purcell Mountains.
Personal Choice Activities:
Campers will love these activities so much that they won't even realize they are learning! Campers can choose their area of interest! These activities are selected by campers after they have checked-in at camp. 6 day campers select three personal choice activities, 4 day campers select two, and 3 day campers select one. All sessions will be different. For example, if you choose 3 survival activities, each session will have different programming.
Grossology: The study of all things gross! Slimy, smelly, dirty and oh, so awesome! Campers will learn about natural earth sciences through fun experiments with slime, mud, scat, bones, and so much more.
Wild Studio: A space where campers can learn, rehearse, and create using their wildest imagination. This arts program finds its inspiration in the wilderness that surrounds Blue Lake Camp.
Survival: Learn more about fire building, shelter, safety and trip preparation. Whether you’ re hoping to improve your camping skills or prepare for a zombie apocalypse, the survival discovery option is the first step to becoming an outdoor expert.
Camp In / Camp Out
On Tuesdays, 6 day campers have the option to join us on our "Stargazers Overnight Camping Trip". The afternoon begins with a 5km hike to our special camp out location. Together we will cook over an open fire, learn outdoor camping skills, sleep under the stars, and experience the great outdoors. Spaces are limited and this option is selected during registration - first come first served.
Other campers will join the "Daytripper" crew for a shorter hike and then return to Blue Lake Camp for regular - super fun - activities!
Camp is an active place and full bellies are important to help keep energy levels high! With this in mind, Blue Lake Camp offers delicious, nutritious, filling meals with vegetarian options. Summer campers receive three meals a day in addition to an evening snack with hot chocolate. Fruit is available all day for campers needing something extra. Nut products are not permitted at our summer camp. With advance notice, our camps are able to accommodate some special diets.
Our cozy log cabins are equipped with bunk beds, hypoallergenic/water proof mattresses, wood stoves, and safety equipment. Each cabin is assigned counselors who will provide 24-hour supervision. Cabins are set up in a dormitory style. This gives campers lots of opportunity to tell stories and share activities from throughout the day. The wash house is equipped with sinks, flush toilets, private showers, hot water, and a change area with storage cubbies.
We provide a low camper to leader ratio and our highly trained staff provide leadership, positive role modeling, and ensure the safety of campers. Our team includes first aid staff and certified national life guards.
